How to make your weekends last longer

Doesn’t it always seem like the weekends are always short? I mean it’s just 2¹½ days for crying out loud, couldn’t it be any longer? Oh well! I can show you how to make your weekends longer, so what say you?? Ready?? Ok!

First lesson! Block off your calendar for all of Friday afternoon: now what this means is that, you won’t schedule any meetings or calls after 12 noon on Friday. Decline all invites unless they are absolutely critical especially invites from your Boss.

Second lesson! Spend 2+ hours working on unfinished top-priority tasks: now this is just to help clear out any major outstanding tasks on your weekly to-do-list. This is very important because you don’t want to carry work over to the house, these are some of the things that makes you work even on a weekend and you don’t get to feel the weekend vibe. So now is the time to tackle them, find a quiet place to work where you won’t be interrupted, and spend a couple of focused hours on these top-priority tasks, completing them or getting them into a good place before the weekend. Once this is done you can now shift attention to the little tasks at hand

3rd lesson! Spend 1 hour cleaning out your inbox: especially if you have pending nails you haven’t replied to. This is the time to actually reply all such mails, cuz you don’t want to be grooving on the weekend and thinking what tasks did I not complete, or what mails did I not send or reply to. You’ll never enjoy the weekend fully is such work thoughts still linger.

4th lesson! Write out your to-do list for the following week: y’all’s this is very important, cuz Monday is not like any other work day, don’t make the mistake of treating Monday like any other workday. Mondays are serious days where you go for your clearly thought out goals and hit them one after the other, Monday is the beginning of the week, so you don’t want to start Monday looking all confused cuz you don’t know where you left off the previous week. So Friday gives you the opportunity to actually prepare ahead for Monday. It is critical to take time on Friday to write out your to-do list for the next week. Your top priorities will be much fresher than trying to do this on Sunday night or Monday morning. This will also give you the peace of mind to know that your top priorities have been captured on paper, and will enable you to hit the ground running the next week.

And finally! Leave the office early: I mean at this point you’re done handling all the weeks tasks both small and extremely important. You’re also done preparing a to-do list for the next week. Leaving the office exactly close-time will make your weekend feel significantly longer. It is what will set you up for a relaxing weekend and a successful following week, you deserve it!
